ASCOT RACE DAY

On Friday June 23rd Ombersley CC will be playing host to a local rugby based charity - The Wooden Spoon Society - who are holding an ASCOT RACE DAY to coincide with the Friday of the Royal Meeting.

It will be a fantastic event from noon until 7pm with morning dress, best frocks and big hats. There will be bookmakers, a huge fully lined marquee, dance floor, champagne, live entertainment, big TV screens to show the racing live and a proper lunch. The marquee will be situated to the right of the pavilion between the score box and the bank.

The cricket club is purely playing host to the race day event and all we will do is provide and take profit from the bar and also profit on a 50/50 basis from all sales of wine. The organisers are hoping for between 200-250 people to attend.

Ticket price has yet to be decided but at a guess it will be around £75/100 per head. All profit will be match pound for pound by the charity's main organisation. Please let Richard Wood know if you want to come to the Ascot Race Day.

The club can use/hire out the marquee - including tables, chairs, cutlery, lining, dancefloor etc the day afterward - Saturday 24th June for NOTHING. This is worth hundreds of pounds to any organisation who may want to use it. Please let Richard Wood know if you, anyone you know or any organisation you know wants to use the marquee and if you want more details of the race day event itself.

There are many celebration connected with Ombersley Village being 1300 years old and this could be an opportunity for one or two of the village organisations to be involved. It would be ideal if the Golf Club, Tennis Club, Junior Cricket, Junior Football, Senior Cricket, Bowls, Fishing Club and any other sporting group based in Ombersley and Doverdale to club together to mark all the work done by various clubs by have a gala, ball or black tie event. Yes it is a busy time for this sort of thing but so what - let's have a decent do on the ground especially as we have got this offer to work with.

Any comments, views, ideas or expressions of interest please contact Richard as soon as possible.
